GROWING UP

The work titled “Growing Up” composes a trilogy together with “Transformation” and “I Remember.” These three works are all based on childhood memories of the artist inspired by socially shared childhood experiences. During the years she was in elementary school, children used to grow bean and lentil plants in cotton as a part of the curriculum… The artist has recreated this experience by growing lentils on her body, plastic dolls and guns.

This work was exhibited for the first time in 2004 at the “IFSAK Photography Days” as a part of the invitation to artists using photography in their works, under the title “Metamorphosis” which was curated by Nazan Azeri. This work was also later exhibited at the Uzbekistan photography biennale , Çanakkale biennale and also at the Karşı Sanat Artworks in Istanbul.
